Isotopes :

The number of both protons and neutrons in the nucleus is the atom's mass number, and each isotope of a given element has a different mass number. They have same atomic number but different mass number i.e atomic mass

Here There are two pairs of isotopes i.e

  • B and C
  • D and E

Isobars :

Isobars have same mass number i.e atomic mass but different atomic number .

Here There is one pair of isobars i.e

  • A and C

Valency in simple language means

  • No of valenced electrons in outermost shell if the no of valenced electrons is less than 4 or equal to 4
  • The elements that have no of valanced electrons greater than 4 there valency can be given by 8 - no of electrons in outer most shell i.e valenced electrons.

Elements with valency 2

  • D and E

Verification : D electronic configuration : 2 , 6

  • Valency of D : 8 - 6 = 2

Verification : Same follows with E

Element with 5 valence electrons

  • A
  • Electronic configuration : 2 , 5
