a) Coral islands are low islands formed in warm waters by tiny sea animals called corals. Corals build up hard external skeletons of calcium carbonate. This material, also known as limestone, is similar to the shells of sea creatures like clams and mussels. Colonies of corals may form huge reefs.

b) The ways in which Himalayas are useful are :-

•They have plenty of mineral resources.

They attract tourists.

•They also stop cold winds from Central Asia.

•Many medicinal plants & herbs grow here.

•The rivers are useful for generation of hydroelectricity.

•Noted for the cultivation of fruits like apples and crops like tea and saffron.
