1. pH:- potential of Hydrogen

To measure acidity or Alkalinity of a water soluble substances.

2. Remains of the sweets being taken may be present in between the teeth and bacteria acts on them at night producing an acid that causes decay of the enamel of the teeth. Toothpaste contains certain bases that help in destroying these bacteria and neutralising this acid, thereby preventing tooth decay.

1.Calcium sulphate dihydrate (CaSo4. 2H2O) . It is white in colour.

2.copper sulphate pentahydrate (CuSo. 5HO). It is blue in colour.

3.sodium carbonate decahydrate (Na2Co3. H2O). It is white in colour.

4.iron sulphate heptahydrate (FeSo4. 7H2O). white in colour.

5.magnesium sulphate heptahydrate (MgSo4. 7H2O) white colour.

4.Bases are the metal oxide which neutralizes acid and are in-soluble in water whereas alkalis are also metal oxide but they are soluble in water and releases hydroxide ion in water. So, not all the bases are alkali because all bases do not dissolve in water.
