In the first case, when the resistors are in series,

Equivalent resistance = 10 + 10

= 20 ohm

Power consumed = V^2 / R =(6×6)/20 = 36/20

In the second case, when the resistors are connected in parallel,

Equivalent resistance = (10×10)/20

=5 ohm

Power consumed = 36/5

Hence, ratio of power consumed in series and power consumed in parallel = (36/20)/(36/5)

= 1/4 = 1:4
