x² - 7x + 5  =  (x - 7/2)² - 29/4

x² - 7x + 5

(x - a)² - b

= x² + a² - 2ax  - b

= x² - 2ax  + a² - b

Comparing with

x² - 7x + 5

2a = 7   => a = 7/2

a² - b = 5

=> (7/2)² - b = 5

=> b = 49/4 - 5

=> b = 29/4

x² - 7x + 5  =  (x - 7/2)² - 29/4
