Tongue is a sense organ. This helps in tasting the food. When we chew the food we usually press the food against the pallate using tongue. This helps in recognisati-

-on of the taste of food. Not only this but also tongue helps us while talking....It also releases saliva

which helps in breaking down food into simpler substance.Releasing saliva makes the food soft and slippery. This also helps in easy digestion.
