Ans: Chromatography is basically based on principal of extracting pure material by the process of cooling.

Answer: Least count of an instrument is the smallest measurement that the instrument can make accurately. The least count of: Metre scale : 0.1cm.

  • A few drops of Dettol added when added to water , it turns turbid. why?

When drops of Dettol is added to water , a process of "microemulsion" happen. microemulsion is a thermodynamically stable , isotropic solution of water , oil and amphiphile. So, on mixing Dettol in water , the tiny droplets of oil gets suspended in the water. this leads to turbidity of the solution.

  • Define taxonomy.

Taxonomy is a scientific way to determine things into classes. or in other words, taxonomy is classification of things in a scientific way.

  • Define measurement.

Measurement is the standard considered ratio for quantifying anything.

  • Which of the following is pure substance? Ice , milk , iron , hydrochloric acid , Mercury , brick and water.

A pure substance is something that has same composition throughout.

→ Ice : it is a solidified form of water , which remains pure. So this is a pure substance.

→ iron : It has no other metal mixed.

→ water : water is a pure substance

Brownian motion : It is the small and really negligible fluctuations of objects.
