Answer:

(6,0), (0,-6)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that A lies on x-axis, So its y-coordinate will be 0.

Given that B lies on y-axis, So its x-coordinate will be 0.

Let (x,0) and (0,y) be the coordinates of A and B respectively.

P divided AB in the ratio 1:2.

Coordinates of P: - Using section formula:

⇒ 4 = [1 * 0 + 2 * x]/(1 + 2)

⇒ 4 = [2x]/(3)

⇒ 12 = 2x

⇒ x = 6

Also,

⇒ -2 = [2 * 0 + 1 * y]/(1 + 2)

⇒ -2 = (y)/3

⇒ y = -6

Therefore, coordinates of A and B are (6,0) and (0,-6).

Hope it helps!

Let point A=(x,0) and B=(0,y) .By using the internal formula which is in the ratio 1:2 ,i got x=-6 and y=6
