 = (5  - \sqrt{2} )(5  + \sqrt{2} ) \\ =  25 + 5 \sqrt{2}  - 5 \sqrt{2}  - 4 \\  = 21 \\ so \:  \: 21 \: is \:  \: a \:  \: rational \:  \: number
