To Find :

The value of y , when the value of x is 6

Given :

 \tt{ \bull \: x  \: \alpha \:  y}

 \tt{ \bull \: x \:  = 6}

 \tt{ \bull \: constant \: of \: proportionality \: is \:  \frac{1}{2} }

We know that :

if a quantity is directly proportional to the other, then .

 \tt{ if \: x \:  \alpha  \: y}

 \tt{ then \: x = ky}

where, k is constant of proportionality .

Solution :

Given, x = 6

constant or k = 1/2

so, the value of y :

 \tt {x = ky}

 \tt{ \implies \: 6 =  \frac{1}{2} y}

 \implies \tt{y = 6 \times 2}

 \red{ \underline{ \boxed{ \tt{ \therefore \: y = 12}}}}

Hence, y = 12
