Actually my phone's battery was fully discharged,so here is the other half of the answer.
If we remove atoms one by one the shells will get attracted to the nucleus and thus due to decrease in the distance between the nucleus and shell, it will be more difficult to remove the electrons which are left. That means, the atom will be positively charged after removal of electrons.. And eventually the last electron, the 4th one will come closest to nucleus and will require most energy.
