If the monkey jumps three steps down and 2 steps up then his final position will be(3-2=1)step below
Therefore he will hit the water level in (8×2=16) jumps

because he is sitting on the 1st step and with each two jumps he comes down a step.so after two jumps he comes on the second step so he will have to jump 8 times twice to hit the water level so 8×2.
