3. The author climbed Mount Everest because it is the highest, the mightiest and has defied many previous attempts. It takes the last ounce of one's energy.

4. The author becomes more and more conscious of his smallness as he sees the universe from the mountain peak.

5. The three qualities that played a major role in the author's climb are endurance, persistence and will power.
