line with y-intercept means it passes through (0,2) and say the line be L1.

Now we have another line 3x - 2y = 6 , say L2
L2 can also be written as ,
3x - 2y = 6
=> 3x - 6 = 2y => 2y = 3x - 6 => y = (3x - 6) / 2
=> y = 3x/2 - 6/2
=> y = 3x/2 - 3
=> y = (3/2)x - 3
On comparing above equation with y = mx + c

we get , m = 3/2 which is a slope line L2....

As Line L1 is perpendicular to Line L2
=> The product of their slope is - 1
=> slope of L1 x slope of L2 = -1
=> Slope of L1 x 3/2 = -1
=> Slope of L1 = -2/3

Equation of a line L1 through (0,2) with slope= -2/3 is
y - y1 = slope of L1 ( x - x1)
=> y - 2 = -2/3 ( x - 0)
=> y - 2 = -2x /3
=> 2x / 3 + y = 2
On multiplying equation by 3 gives
2x + 3y = 6
Now write the above eqaution in Intercept form as
x / a + y / b = 1 where a = x-intercept and b = y-intercept

we have , 2x + 3y = 6
on dividing eqaution by 6 , we get
2x / 6 + 3y / 6 = 6 / 6
=> x / 3 + y / 2 = 1
Here x - intercept is 3...

Hope this help........
