Answer:

Jeannie looked everywhere for her jewelry.  It was all she had from a previous life, it was precious, and it was nowhere to be found.  She’d just returned from a trip to Europe and her neighbour had been looking after the house in her absence.  Jeannie knew it had been taken.  She’d never trusted her neighbour’s daughter, perhaps she’d been in the house and stolen it.

A month or so later she discovered all the jewelry hidden in the back of a drawer.  She’d completely forgotten she’d tucked it away for safekeeping.

O.W, four year old little sprite that he is, couldn’t get to sleep, the dim light cast a shadow in a corner and he was convinced it was a lurking monster.  Never mind that moving the light moved the ‘monster’, he needed extra light to be certain and even then nothing would convince him that there were no monsters in the house. In the morning light, he could see the ‘monster’ was the shadow of his superman costume hanging over the chair.

I saw a snake on my walk this morning and crossed to the other side of the road, because…well snakes give me the heebie jeebies.  Living in Florida, I’m on the look out for snakes and creepy crawlies, not so much things that go bump in the night, I leave that to O.W.  But I’ve had a huge snake climb under my car and sit there, imprisoning me, because well I’m a wimp and they scare me.

Back to my morning walk, on my route home, said ‘snake’ was being picked up by a puppy who was shaking it for all it was worth – it turned out to be a black stick lying in the road.

What’s the common demoninator in all these tales of woe?  That the drama of our life originates in us.  Our mental states cause us to experience a vibration of energy that attracts to us events that mirror that vibration.  And they don’t have to be ‘real’.  But they are our interpretation of what we see.

We interpret events through our beliefs, which is why it’s a good idea to take a step back before reacting to any situation.

Past events that had an emotional charge for us, create a powerful vibration of energy and sends our sub conscious, which is reached through our feeling state, into action.  It looks at the situation and says, oh boy this is real, so I have to protect her/him from this experience in the future.  I’m going to sit on their shoulder and as soon as anything similar shows up I’ll get to work so they can see precisely what’s happening.  How helpful!

Carol was the baby of the family and would sometimes hear it said that her brother and sister were really smart.  She was crushed and her interpretation was that she wasn’t very bright; this soon became a part of her self image, the way she perceived herself in the world.  Totally not true at all.  But over the years she had lots of experiences that confirmed her belief about herself.  No kidding.  That’s how the laws of life work.  We all draw to us conditions and people to confirm our beliefs.  It’s that vibration and mirror thing in action.

It took many years before she began to awaken to the reality that she had marvelous possibilities within her.  Carol began to imagine herself being someone other than she had believed for lo those many years.  And you know what, once you begin to do that and stick with it, the current conditions and circumstances of life can no longer remain in being.  She learned that events renew themselves through the images we constantly hold and return to.  A change of image brought a huge change in her life.

So often we get what we expect.  We’re not totally dealing with ‘reality’ here.  Remember our consciousness is the maker of our reality.  We’re always dealing with our inner world, which is filled with our beliefs, our old experiences, memories, and feelings, all of which we continue to project onto the screen of space, for good or ill.

We see the outer world of reality automatically based on all our old ‘stuff’ – and yep, that includes me and my snake!

To see what we want to see requires us to wake up, like Carol, and it takes effort and discipline to focus and direct our attention inwardly.  Imagination is creative and can transform our experiences, or imprison us if we only use it to remember the past…most times the not so good past.

Your world is centred in you, awaiting your rearrangement of it.  And the way it can reflect the beauty you want to see, is for you to imagine the best for yourself and then go about your business radiating the gift you’ve been given.  The gift of imagination.

Encourage one another.
