The representatives are given a period of 5 years after election so as to avoid the power abuse. And also the new efficients must also get a chance to put their best for the society. New ideas , new initiatives can be implemented in case of term period.Their will also be no political fights in the name of leadership as after every 5 years elections takes place....And the people also can elect their representatives based on the ruling..........
