since ABCD is a rectangle therefore opposite sides are equal
so, AB=DC
and AD =BC
I. x+3y=13
ii. 3x+y= 7
now from I.
x=13-3y
in ii.
3(13-3y)+y=7
39-9y+y=7
39-8y=7
39-7=8y
32=8y
y=4
putting y=4 in equation i
x=13-3y
x=13-12
x=1
so, AB=DC
and AD =BC
