plz solve it +++a boat goes distance in upstream in 6 hour and cover the same distance in downstream in 4 hour .if the speed is 3km/hr,then the distance is ??

given that,
speed of boat in still water = 3km/h
let, speed of boat in current water = x km/ h
case 1st..
speed of boat in upstream= (3-x) km/h
time taken = 6 hrs.
we know that,
distance= speed ×time
=> distance=( 3-x)6. ___(1)
case 2nd..
speed of boat in downstream= (3+ x)km/h
time taken = 4 hrs
so,
distance=( 3+x)4. ____(2)
since,
in both cases distance is equal, so
from (1) and (2)
(3-x)6 = (3+x)4
=>18-6x = 12+4x
=> 18-12 = 4x+6x
=> 6 = 10x
=> x= 6/10 km/h
on putting the value of x. in eq (1), we get
distance= (3- 6/10)× 6
= 14.4 km
