Answer:

On cross multiplication we get two equations. These are:

x +2y = 1.6

2x + y = 0.7 .......................... (1)

By elimination method

On multiplying first equation with 2 on both sides we get

2x + 4y = 3.2 ............................. (2)

On subtracting (1) from (2) we get

3y = 2.5

y = 2.5 /3

On putting this value of y in (1)

2x + 2.5 /3 = 3.2

2x = 3.2 - 2.5 /3

2x = 9.6/3 - 2. 5 /3

2x = 7.1/3

x = 7.1/6
