P1 = price of one of the broken piece
P2 = price of the other broken piece
P = price of original diamond

Given that,

P1 + P2 = 5P/8

m1^2 + m2^2 = (5/8)m^2
(P proportional to mass square)

m1^2 + m2^2 = 5(36/8)

m1^2 + m2^2 = 90/4

Putting the values from option (3) we get the above equation correct...

Thus, correct option is (3).
