1- If x and y vary inversely and x = 25 , when y=3 . find y , when x =15


2- If x and y vary inversely and y =45. find x when constant of variation =9

The answer is 5.
X=1/y*k
K is a constant.
So, xy=k

So,25*3=k=75

Now, x is 15 &k is 75.

So, 15*y=75

Hence y is 75/15=5

Y=5.

INVERSE PROPORTION :

Two quantities x and y are said to vary in inverse proportion if 

xy = k  -----------( 1 )

where k is a constant.

according to our problem

y = 45 ,

k = 9 .

put these values in ( 1 ),

xy = k

x × 45 = 9

x = 9 / 45

x = 1/5

if y = 45 then x = 1/5
