1) (a) a = 1/5 b = 1/4

LCM = 20

multiply and divide a with 4 and b with 5

a = 4/20 b = 5/20

A rational number between a and b

= 4.5/20

= 45/200

= 9/40

2) Two rational number between –2 and 2 are – 1 , 0

4) 4 rational number between – 1 and –1/2

multiply and divide –1 by 2

4 rational no. between –2 / 2 and – 1 / 2

Now, multiply and divide both the numbers by 5

4 rational number between –10 /10 and –5/10

Hence, 4 rational no. are –9/10, –8/10, –7/10, –6/10

5) 6 rational numbers between – 1 and 0

multiply and divide both by 7

6 rational no between –7/7 and 0/7

Hence 6 rational numbers are –6/7 , –5/7, –4/7 , –3/7 , – 2/7 , – 1/7

7) 100 rational numbers between –3/13 and 9/13

multiply and divide both the numbers by 100

100 rational numbers between –300/1300 and 900/1300

Hence, 100 rational numbers are –299/1300, –298/1300, –297/1300............... and so on

{ Note : There are infinite rational numbers between any two rational numbers }
