Answer:

1) avg speed = total distance/total time

total distance traveled =16+16=32

total time = 4+2 = 6sec

avg speed = 32/6 = 5.33 m/s.

2) avg speed = total distance/total time

we will find total distance as 2400‐2000=400km

total time = 8hr as given in the question

avg speed =400/8 = 50km/h.

3) after 10 sec the velocity will be 15m/s.

Question (1) :

An object travel 16 m in 4 second and then another 16 m in 2 second. What is the average speed of the object?

AnsWer :

  • Distance (D₁) = 16 m
  • Distance (D₂) = 16 m
  • Time (T₁) = 4 s
  • Time (T₂) = 2 s
  • Average speed = ?

Average speed = Total distance ÷ Total time

→Average speed = (D₁ + D₂) ÷ (T₁ + T₂)

→Average speed = (16 + 16) ÷ (4 + 2)

→Average speed = 32 ÷ 6

Average speed = 5.34 s

✪ Question (2) : ✪

The odometer of a car reads 2000 km at the start of a trip and 2400 km at the end of the trip. If the trip take took 8 h, calculate the average speed of the car in km/h and m/s.

✪ AnsWer : ✪

  • Initial reading [Distance] (D₁) = 2000 km
  • Final reading [Distance] (D₂) = 2400 km
  • Total Time (T) = 8 h
  • Average speed = ?

↠Average speed = Total distance ÷ Total time

↠Average speed = (Final reading - initial reading) ÷ Total time

↠Average speed = (2400 - 2000) ÷ 8

↠Average speed = 400 ÷ 8

Average speed = 50 km/h

↠Average speed = 50 × (5/18)

↠Average speed = 250/18

Average speed = 13.9 m/s

✪ Question (3) : ✪

A body is moving with a velocity of 15 m/s. If the motion is uniform. What will be the velocity after 10 seconds.

✪ AnsWer : ✪

It is said that the body is moving with a uniform motion it means that acceleration must be 0 m/s².

  • Initial velocity (u) = 15 m/s
  • Acceleration (a) = 0 m/s²
  • Time (t) = 10 s
  • Final velocity (v) = ?

Now, apply first kinematical equation of motion :

↛v = u + at

↛v = 15 + (0) × 10

v = 15 m/s
