Let the length and breadth of the room be l and b respectively.

Given that length of a room is 50% more than its breadth.

l = b + 50% of b

l = b + 50/100 * b

  = b(1 + 50/100)

  = b(150/100)

  = b(3/2)

  = 1.5b

Therefore the length = 1.5b   ------- (1)

Given that cost of carpeting, the room at the rate of 38.50m^2 is 924 rupees.

We know that Area of the floor = l * b

                            l * b = 924/38.50

                           l * b = 24

                           1.5 b * b = 24

                           1.5b^2 = 24

                            b^2 = 24/1.5

                            b^2 = 16

                            b = 4.    -------- (2)

Substitute b = 4 in (1) , we get

l = 1.5 * b

  = 1.5 * 4

  = 6.    ---------------- (3)

Given that cost of carpeting, the walls at the rate of 5.50 per m^2 are 1320 rupees.

We know that Area of four walls = 2(l + b) * h

          2(l + b) * h = 1320/5.50

          2(6 + 4) * h = 240

          2(10) * h = 240

          20 * h = 240

           h = 240/20

           h = 12m.   ----- (4)

Therefore from (2),(3),(4).

The dimensions of the room are:

Length = 6m.

Breadth = 4m.

Height = 12m.

Hope this helps!
