180° - x° + 180° - x° + 90° = 180°

180° - x° + 180° - x° = 180° - 90°

180° - x° + 180° - x° = 90°

360° - 2x° = 90°

-2x° = 90° - 360°

-2x° = -270°

2x° = 270° (∴ because there were negative signs both the sides, so it was cancelled out)

x° = 270°/2

x° = 135°

Hence the value of x is 135°.

No, -x + -x cannot be 2x. Their sum would be -2x.
