Replace value v1 in second equation from first one.
That is
2( v + 1)² = ( 2v )²
2( v² + 2v + 1 ) = 4v²
2v² + 4v + 2 = 4v²
2v² - 4v - 2 = 0
v² - 2v -1 = 0
Use quadratic formula,
v =[ 2 ± √ { 4 - (-4)} ]/ 2
v = [ 2 ± √8 ] / 2
v = 1 ± √2
v1 = 2v
v1 = 2( 1 ± √2 )
v1 = 2 ± 2√2
Thank you.
