sum of observation=mean×no. of observation
sum of observation=40×100
sum of observation=4000

sum of observation after replacing 30 by 70
=(sum of observation-30)+70
=(4000-30)+70
=3970+70
=4040
new mean=sum of new observation/no. observation
new mean=4040/100
new mean=40.4
