(i) From 3rd equation of motion

v² - u² = 2gh

-49 X 49 = -2(9.8)h

h = 5 X 49 /2

h = 122.5 m

(ii) Time taken to reach the top

v = u - gt

0 = 49 - 9.8(t)

t = 5 s

Total time taken to reach surface of earth,

T = 2t = 10 s
