Singleton Set :- A set which contains only one element.

a)

A = { x: 2x² + 8 = 0 x€N

2x² = -8

x² = -4

x= ±√-4

x = ±2i

Where i is iota i = √-1

As x € N, here x ( x = ±2i )doesn't have any solution of x : x €N

So, set A contains two elements.. Viz

+2i and -2i

So, it is not singleton set.

B)

C = { x: x €N 3 < x < 5

In between ( 3 5 ) there is only one natural number i,e 4

So, set C is

C = { 4 }

Hence, Set C is singleton set..
