Given equations, 3x² -2x +P = 0 _________1

6x² -17x +12 = 0 ________2

So, to take out root of of 2nd equation we will solve it by middle term split.

6x² - 17x + 12 = 0

6x² - (8 + 9)x + 12 =0

6x² -8x -9x + 12 =0

2x(3x - 4) -3(3x - 4) =0

(3x - 4) (2x - 3) =0

So two roots of equation are,

3x - 4 = 0 2x -3 = 0

x = 4/3 x = 3/2

put any one of the roots in equation 1 and we will get P

3x² - 2x +P = 0

3(3/2)² - 2(3/2) + P =0

3 × (9/4) - 3 + P =0

(27/4) + P = 3

P = 3 - (27/4)

P = -15/4

Therefore, value of P is -15/4

Hope it helps.
