Question 2 :

  • \sf\:\frac{x-1}{3}~=~5

Solution :

\sf\:\frac{x-1}{3}~=~5

Cross multiplying

\sf\implies\:1(x-1)~=~3 \times 5

\sf\implies\:x-1~=~15

Transposing -1 to RHS it becomes +1

\sf\implies\:x~=~15+1

\small{\underline{\boxed{\mathrm{\implies\:x~=~16}}}} \bf\color{cyan}{⋆}

Verification

Plugging the value of x as 16 in the given equation -

\sf\:\frac{x-1}{3}~=~5

\sf\multimap\:\frac{16-1}{3}~=~5

\sf\multimap\:\frac{15}{3}~=~5

\sf\multimap\:\cancel{\frac{15}{3}}~=~5

\sf\multimap\:5~=~5

Hence Verified !~

Question 3 :

  • \bf\:\frac{x-3}{2}~=~5

‎ ‎

‎ ‎Solution :

\sf\:\frac{x-3}{2}~=~5

Cross multiplying

\sf\implies\:1(x-3)~=~2 \times 5

\sf\implies\:x-3~=~10

Transposing -3 to RHS it becomes +3

\sf\implies\:x~=~10+3

\small{\underline{\boxed{\mathrm{\implies\:x~=~13}}}} \bf\color{cyan}{⋆}

‎ ‎

Verification

Plugging the value of x as 13 in the given equation -

\sf\:\frac{x-3}{2}~=~5

\sf\multimap\:\frac{13-3}{2}~=~5

\sf\multimap\:\frac{10}{2}~=~5

\sf\multimap\:10~=~5 \times 2

\sf\multimap\:10~=~10

Hence Verified !~

Question 4 :

  • \bf\:\frac{x+4}{2}~=~3

‎ ‎

‎ ‎Solution :

\sf\:\frac{x+4}{2}~=~3

Cross multiplying

\sf\implies\:1(x+4)~=~3 \times 2

\sf\implies\:x+4~=~6

Transposing +4 to RHS it becomes -4

\sf\implies\:x~=~6-4

\small{\underline{\boxed{\mathrm{\implies\:x~=~2}}}} \bf\color{cyan}{⋆}

‎Verification

Plugging the value of x as 2 in the given equation -

\sf\:\frac{x+4}{2}~=~3

\sf\multimap\:\frac{2+4}{2}~=~3

\sf\multimap\:\frac{6}{2}~=~3

\sf\multimap\:\cancel{\frac{6}{2}}~=~3

\sf\multimap\:3~=~3

Hence Verified !~
