Answer:

In Tri. ABP and Tri. CDP

Angle P = Angle P (Common)

Angle A = Angle C (alt Angles) (this angles are equal because of AB ll CD)

Therefore Tri. ABP similar to Tri. CDP by AA

Therefore AB/CD = AP/CP = DP/BP

Now,

Ar of ABP/ Ar of CDP = AB^2/CD^2 (Ar. of triangle's are equal to their corresponding sides)
