= x^p/(x^p+x^q) + 1/(x^(p-q) +1)

= x^p/(x^p+x^q) + 1/(x^p/x^q + 1)

= x^p/(x^p+x^q) + x^q/(x^p+x^q)

= (x^p+x^q)/(x^p+x^q)

= 1
