first: 40 km/hr for 1 hour means the car travels 40 km.

second: 60 km/hr for half an hour means 30 km

third: 30 km/hr for 1 1/2 hour means 45 km

totally the car travels 115 km (40+30+45) for 3 hours (1 + 1/2 + 1 1/2)

normally speed = distance traveled (km)/ time taken (hr)

therefore  speed = 115/3 = 38.3334 km/hr
