Let the time'taken by first pipe be= x min
So First pipe can fill in one minute = 1/x part
and time taken by second pipe be= x+5 min
similarly
Second pipe can fill in one minute = 1/(x+5) part
Given that , both pipes if running together can fill the tank in 100/9 min
So,
They can fill in one minute= 9/100part
.Now,
According to question;
1/x + 1/(x+5) = 9/100
Solving it we get,
x= 20 and x= -25/9 which is negligible
hence x= 20min
So time taken by First pipe to fill tank= 20min
and,
time taken by second pipe to fill tank=20+5=25min.
