Given Equation is x^2 - 2ax - (4b^2 - a^2) = 0

= > x^2 - 2ax - 4b^2 + a^2 = 0

= >x^2 + a^2 - 2ax - 4b^2 = 0

= > (x^2 + a^2 - 2ax) = 4b^2

= > (x - a)^2 = (2b)^2

= > (x - a) = 2b (or) -2b

(i)

= > x - a = 2b

= > x = 2b + a

(ii)

= > x - a = -2b

= > x = -2b + a

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, the values of x = 2b + a (or) a - 2b.

Hope this helps!
