therefore x + 50° = 180° (sum of co int. angles is 180° when lines are ||)
→ x = 180° - 50°
→ x = 30°
construction :-
draw a line || to AB from C and extend it and name P.
→ angle BCP + angle ABC = 180° (sum of co int. angles is 180° when lines are ||)
→ angle BCP = 180° - 85°
→ angle BCP = 95°
→ 95° + y + 50° = 180° (forming a straight line)
→ 145° + y = 180°
→ y = 180° - 145
→ y = 35°
