squaring both sides,we get:-
x/y+y/x+2=100/9
=>x/y+y/x=82/9
=>(x^2+y^2)/xy=82/9
therefore xy=9
(x=1 & y=9)

Sajiya70: How can you assume from (x^2+y^2)/xy=82/9 that xy = 9? Please explain!
Ayusha765: it is a ratio,you can consider xy=9 as x=1 and y=9 satisfoes the equation but more detailed process can be used by taking (x/y)^(1/2) as u and (y/x)^(1/2) as 1/u then we will get a quadratic equation which would give the value of x/y then again we have to put the value in yhe squared equation and then solve
Sajiya70: OK thanks!
