$x - \frac{x}{3} + 96 = \frac{2x + 288}{3}$

station 2:

$\frac{2x + 288}{3} - ( \frac{2x + 288}{3 \times 2} ) + 12 = \frac{2x + 360}{6}$

No. of passenger at last station: 248

$248 = \frac{2x + 360}{6} \\ 1488 - 360 = 2x \\ \frac{1128}{2} = x \\ 564 = x \: (answer)$
