Explanation:

➡️ distance travelled is total area of a velocity time graph

➡️ distance=area of both trapeziums

➡️ area of trapeziums = 1/2 × (parallel) × height

➡️1/2 × (2+4) ×4. + 1/2 × ( 2+4) ×2

➡️ 1/2 × 6 × 4 + 1/2 × 6 × 2

➡️ 12 + 6

➡️ 18 metres

so,

option (a) is correct

Answer:

Total distance covered = Area of 2 trapeziums .

Area of first trapezium :-

here ,

  • l ' = 2
  • l" = 4
  • height (h) = 4 .

area =  \frac{1}{2} (sum \: of \: parallel \: sides) \: h \:

 = \frac{1}{2} (6).4

 = 12 \: m \: .

Area of second trapezium :-

here ,

  • l' = 2 .
  • l" = 4 .
  • h = 2 .

area \: = \frac{1}{2} (sum \: of \: parallel \: sides).h \:

area \: = \frac{1}{2} (2 + 4).2

area \: = 6 \: m \: .

therefore, total distance covered ,

= ( 12 + 6 ) m

= 18 m .

therefore, option A , 18 m .
