\Large{\underline{\underline{\sf{Explanation:}}}}

Given thαt,

Three tαnkers contαin 403 litres, 434 litres and 465 litres of diesel.

— We need to find the maximum measuring capacity of the container to measure the three tanks.

Solutíon :

Since the meαsuring cαpαcity is smαller thαn 403, 434, 465.

we will find the Highest Common Factor(H.C.F)

Mαximum Meαsuring capacity = H.C.F of 403, 434 and 465.

  • Find the factors of the numbers by using prime factorisation method.

\displaystyle{\rm{403=13 \times 31}}

\displaystyle{\rm{434=7\times2\times31}}

\displaystyle{\rm{465=3\times5\times31}}

Therefore, the H.C.F is 31.

  • The maximum measuring capacity of the container to measure the three tanks is 31.
