Let the digits be x and y.
Then the decimal expansion is 10x + y.
Given that the units digit is thrice the ten's digit.
= > y = 3x ---- (1)
Given that if 36 is added to the number the digits interchange their place.
= > 10x + y + 36 = 10y + x
= > 10x + y - 10y - x = -36
= > 9x - 9y = -36
= > x - y = -4
= > y - x = 4 ---- (2)
Substitute (1) in (2), we get
= > 3x - x = 4
= > 2x = 4
= > x = 2.
Substitute x = 2 in (1), we get
= > y = 3x
= > y = 3(2)
= > y = 6.
so,
The required decimal expansion = 10x + y = 10(2) + 6 = 26.
Therefore,the number is 26.
Hope this helps!
