Theorem

When a chord and tangent externally or internally intersect at a point , then the square of the tangent is equal to the product of the chords.

Given :

PQ = 12

PR = 8

PS = ?

Finding PS

According to the Theorem :

PQ² = PR × PS

==> 12² = 8 × PS

==> PS = 144/8

==> PS = 18

Thus PS = 18 units
