The the sodium has a layer of fungi on the top of it so the kerosene oil doesn't let the sodium please to come out of the measuring cylinder. This reaction happens because sodium is reactive to water. Please tell the peoples watching the reaction to stay away from the reaction because the sodium produces very harmful fumes which can cause blinding. A real life example of this type of reaction is in the movies in which they put sodium in big rivers and then the sodium reacts and we think that it is a bomb.
