Answer:

Brain has mainly three types:

1. Fore brain.

2. Mid brain.

3.Hind brain.

Explanation:

1.Fore brain also further divided into three parts:

a)Olfactory Lobes -They are a pair of widely separated club-shaped structures which occur on the inferior surface of cerebrum. Each olfactory lobe consists of an anterior olfactory stalk.olfactory lobes relay sense of smell received from olfactory epithelium to the temporal part of the cerebrum.

b) Cerebrum - It is the largest part of the brain which forms nearly 80% of the same.Cerebrum occupies the front, lateral and superior parts of the brain.

c) Diencephalon - It lies on the inferior side of the cerebrum. It has epithalamus on its roof, thalamil on the sides and hypothalamus on floor. A narrow cavity called third ventricle occurs in diencephalon.

2.Mid brain also further divided into two parts:

a)Cerebral peduncles.

b) Corpora Quadrigemina.

It is a small area having two thick fibrous tracts and four swellings. fibrous tracts are called cerebral peduncles or crura cerebri.

They connect Hind brain with fore brain. The four swellings are known as corpora quadrigemina or colliculi.

3. Hind brain also further divided into three parts:

a)pons - it is a cross wise bundle of nervous tissue that lies on the antero-ventral side of medulla oblongata.it connects the cerebellum, medulla oblongata and cerebrum.

b) cerebellum - It is a part of hind brain. It constitutes 12.5%of brain. It lies in the posterior region of brain.cerebellum has three parts, two lateral cerebellar hemisphere and one central vermis.A cavity is nearly absent. It Coordinates muscular activity. Cerebellum maintains equilibrium of the body.It provides precision to voluntary activities.

c)Medulla Oblongata - 1. Respiratory center for regulating rate of breathing.

2. Cardiac center for regulating rate for heart beat.

3. Regulations of blood pressure.

4. Reflex center for.swallowing, vomiting, coughing, etc.

Pons, medulla oblongata and mid brain are collectively known as brain.stem.
