Rosenmund’s Reduction is the method to prepare ALDEHYDES from ACID CHLORIDES.

Here Palladium (Pd) catalyst poisoned by Sulfur is used as the catalyst. Here poisoning is done to reduce the catalytic activity of Pd so that partial reduction occur and we obtain an ALDEHYDE. Or else complete reduction may occur and we may yield an ALCOHOL.

In Wurtz Reaction, ALKYL HALIDES react with Sodium ( Na ) in presence of DRY ETHER to get higher alkanes.
