Lipase acts on emulsified fats and lipids and breaks them into glycerol, monoacyl and diacylglycerols and fatty acids. Gastric lipase has a minor activity. Major site of lipase activity is the intestine. In small intestine bile emulsifies fats and pancreatic lipase acts on emulsified fats and lipids.
