(i) Name of the plant is pitcher plants (scientific name:Nepenthes ventricosa)

(ii) Pitcher plants grow in the wetlands of southern Canada and the United States as well as in the tropical areas of northern Australia, Southeast Asia, southern China, India and Madagascar.

  • Most of these species are perennials that grow in very acidic soil, though some are epiphytic and live on the branches of trees.

(iii)Pitcher plant is an insectivorous plant that derives nitrogenous compounds by trapping and consuming insects. The leaf of a pitcher plant is modified to form a pitcher-like structure. When an insect sits on the pitcher, the lid of the pitcher gets closed and the insect gets trapped inside.
