If 50 people have 40 days worth food = 2000 days of food total

Add 30 more people to the original 50 = 80 people now

2000 days of food / 80 people = 25 days

Let the Total amount of food present in the Hostel be : F

Given : Original number of Girls in the hostel = 50

Given : Number of days food provisions last for those 50 girls = 40

\implies \mathsf{Amount\;of\;food\;consumed\;by\;50\;girls\;in\;one\;day = \dfrac{F}{40}}

★  Amount of food consumed by one girl in one day :

\implies \mathsf{\bigg(\dfrac{1}{50} \times \dfrac{F}{40}\bigg) = \bigg(\dfrac{F}{2000}\bigg)}

Given : 30 more girls joined the hostel

★  Total number of girls in the hostel now = (50 + 30) = 80

★  Amount of food consumed by 80 girls in one day :

\implies \mathsf{\bigg(80 \times \dfrac{F}{2000}\bigg) = \bigg(\dfrac{F}{25}\bigg)}

★  Number of days the provisions last for 80 girls :

\implies \mathsf{\bigg(\dfrac{F \times 1\;day}{\frac{F}{25}}\bigg)}

\implies \textsf{25 days}
