plz tell me the concept of oxidation and reduction, reducing agent and oxidising agent with examples.

here is ur answer....!
oxidation: the process of loss of electrons is called oxidation.
Na --- Na+ + e-
oxidising agent: atom ,ion or molecule which oxidises other substances but itself gets reduced in the process is oxidising agent .
for eg : oxygen,chlorine..etc
Reduction: The gain of electron is called reduction.
Cu2+ + H2 ...... Cu + H2O
reducing agent: the atom which reduces other substance and itself gets oxidised in the process is called reducing agent.
for eg : carbon , aluminium,etc.

The substance which loses electrons to the other substance and gets oxidized to the higher valency state is known as reducing agent.
